Why We Built ThereWhen

We started ThereWhen for a simple reason: too many families are stretched thin trying to be everywhere at once. A parent lives independently and wants to keep it that way, but the small things — a ride to an appointment, help with the mail, an hour with someone to talk to — add up. And the distance, whether it's across town or across the country, makes it hard to know how things really are.

ThereWhen exists to close that gap. We bring regular, non-medical visits from a consistent companion, and we keep families informed every step of the way.

What a visit looks like

Every visit is built around the person, not a checklist. One week it might be groceries and a walk around the block. The next, it's sorting the mail and setting up a new phone. What stays the same is the companion — a familiar face who knows the routine and notices when something's off.

The update after matters as much as the visit itself. You'll know what we did, how things seemed, and whether anything is worth your attention — so you're not reconstructing the afternoon from a phone call.

What we're not

We want to be clear about our boundaries, because trust depends on it:

  • We are not home healthcare or skilled nursing.
  • We don't provide medication administration, bathing, or personal hygiene assistance.
  • We don't offer emergency response or around-the-clock supervision.

What we do offer is companionship, practical everyday support, and a clearer picture of how the week is actually going. You'll know who showed up, how the visit went, and whether anything deserves your attention.

What's ahead

This is the first of many articles we'll share here — on aging well, on caregiving from a distance, and on the everyday questions families wrestle with. We're glad you're here.
